General Use Policies

Library Usage:
The Merrill District Library is open to all. The Merrill District Library offers borrowing privileges to all residents of the Library District. Persons residing outside of the District but own property, attend an educational institution, or work in the District shall be granted borrowing privileges. To obtain a library card, a patron must visit the library and provide identification. If a patron is under 13 years of age, a parental signature is required. Out area patrons can make copies of information that they want or take the Author and/or Title of the material they are interested in and see if the materials are available from their local library or have their local library request the items through inter loan from their local library.

Loan Policies:
Books, Cassettes, Video/DVD, Magazines-2 weeks

Our Items may be renewed up to three times unless there is a waiting list for the item. Renewals may be done at the circulation desk, phone or email
   -No renewals on new releases
   -No renewals on magazines
   -Can renew a book for a maximum of 3 times
   -Can renew by phone, e-mail or in person

Reserves/Interlibrary loan:
When the items become available, the patron will be notified via phone.

20 items per card

An overdue notice will be sent after a month, a second notice will be sent after 4 weeks, and thereafter the patron will be charged replacement cost for the book.
Overdue Policy

Fines and Fees:

Overdue materials: 5 cents per item/per day.
Fax:  $1.00 per page to send or receive
Copies or prints:  20 cents a page
Lost/Damaged Book: Replacement cost
Video:  $1.00 per 2 weeks
